● 72% increase in year-on-year (YoY) GoFood orders in Vietnam in the first half of 2022.

● Vietnamese GoFood merchants’ average sales almost tripled in H1 2022, as compared

to the same period in 2021; merchants in Hanoi recorded almost 5x increase in sales

Gojek, Southeast Asia’s leading mobile on-demand platform, today revealed new insights into the business performance of GoFood merchants in Vietnam in the first half of 2022. The latest data shows strong recovery in online food delivery transactions and growth in Vietnamese GoFood merchants’ businesses, with merchants; average sales in H1 2022 increasing nearly 3x on average as compared to the same period in 2021.

The number of users in Vietnam transacting on GoFood in the first half of 2022 increased by 66% year-on-year. Among them, the number of new users grew by 35%, with the increase in Hanoi almost five times higher than in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), indicating GoFood’s increasing popularity in the capital.

Total order volume also increased in parallel, with the number of GoFood orders increasing by 72% in the first half of 2022. In Hanoi, the number of GoFood orders more than tripled in the same period.

Users are also increasingly placing higher value orders. In the first half of 2022, the average value of GoFood orders grew by 23% year-on-year, despite prices of food items on GoFood remaining largely the same.

As a result, of the growth in user numbers and order values, the average monthly sales of merchants on GoFood has increased significantly in the first six months of 2022. Average sales of GoFood merchants in Vietnam in H1 2022 almost tripled year-on-year, with merchants in

Hanoi recording sales of almost 5x, while in HCMC, the increase was more than double. Commenting on the performance, Dung Le, Head of Merchants at Gojek Vietnam said, “The growth in sales of our GoFood merchants shows strong economic recovery in Vietnam, particularly in urban centers like HCMC and Hanoi. As more people are now relying on online platforms for their everyday needs, food merchants that can leverage the power of digital services have a great opportunity to grow their businesses.”

Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Hải, the owner of chain PaPa Chicken - Gà Rán - Cơm Gà said, “We had just one outlet when we started our partnership with GoFood in 2019. In just three years, with Gojek’s support, we have expanded our business to 28 outlets across Vietnam, with four in HCMC and 24 in Hanoi. Our revenue also continues to grow, with sales revenue of Papa Chicken on GoFood increasing 20 times in the first quarter of 2022, compared to the last quarter of 2021. As we grew our online presence over the past few years, we have seen many benefits in our partnership with GoFood: technology-based tools and platforms that enable effective online business management, promotions, dedicated staff, and the ability to reach a wide and perse customer base.”

Number of merchants on GoFood trending upwards

The number of merchants on the GoFood platform has continued to grow at a steady pace as HCMC and Hanoi gradually relaxed social restrictions. In the first half of 2022, the total number of merchants listed on GoFood increased by 83% year on year. In June 2022 alone, the number of new merchants on GoFood grew by 21% compared to the previous month, and increased by 31% compared to the first quarter average.
